Penn National Insurance offers you over 85 years of insurance experience. A group of farmers founded the company in 1919 to provide affordable workers' compensation insurance. In the early 1930's, they began selling automobile insurance, and later expanded into other lines of insurance and into new states.
Today, Penn National Insurance sells a broad range of property and liability lines of insurance for business and personal customers. PNI assets exceed $1 billion. We sell insurance through more than 1,000 independent agencies in the mid-Atlantic U.S. We are a regional, mutual insurance company. "Regional" means that we sell only in select regions of the United States. We stay focused on our select regions, ensuring that we provide outstanding customer service to our agents and policyholders. Companies with a national or international territory cannot provide the customer focus that we offer.
Personal auto insurance is our best selling line of business, followed by workers' compensation and commercial auto insurance. As a mutual company, we are in business to serve our policyholders, who are in a sense our owners.
Penn National Insurance market share is ranked in the top 100 companies doing business in the U.S. for both automobile and homeowners insurance.
We have outlined the following objectives in our Personal Lines Division's mission statement:
Penn National Insurance is committed to gaining representation from top professional agents, exercising careful and skillful underwriting, and providing superior claims service. These core values and support from our agents and policyholders have helped make us a competitive and secure personal lines insurance company
